Worry and anxieties have become common in our daily lives. The stressful life and a hectic lifestyle are the major factors leading to worry and anxieties. Worry can manifest in different forms and cause severe damage to the emotional and mental health. Persistent and prolonged worry and anxieties should be treated so that you can live a calmer and happier life. The article discusses the different types of worry and the effectiveness of EFT therapy in treating it.
Different Types of Worry and Anxieties
The different types of worry and anxieties are as follows:
General Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
This is if you worry daily about different things for a continuous period of 6-months or more then you may be suffering from GAD. You could be worried about the routine of daily life and constantly think that something bad will happen. People suffering from GAD are likely to exhibit signs of depression, social phobia, anxiety etc.
People can experience strong panic attacks which can become uncontrollable. Panic disorders are an extreme form of worry and can also be marked by physical symptoms like heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, sweating etc. Persistent worry and panic attacks exceeding a month may indicate panic disorder. Panic disorder can be triggered by specific situations or may have no cause at all.
Social anxiety leads to extreme anxiety in facing social situations. People suffering from social anxiety have an extreme anxiety of being criticized, embarrassed, and humiliated in routine everyday situations. They tend to avoid social situations and settings where their anxiety may be triggered. This limits their social life.
There are a number of phobias: afraid of heights, fire, particular animals, closed spaces etc. While fear from certain stimuli is normal, people suffering from specific phobias may have exaggerated and irrational fears. Symptoms of specific phobias may include avoiding situations which may present stimuli related to their phobia, not going close to specific animals, changed lifestyle to avoid phobia etc.
Different types of worry and anxieties are triggered due to memories and experiences stored in the subconscious mind. People may not be aware of such memories and EFT therapy sessions helps them to open up and identify them. Once the root cause i.e. the memories and experiences triggering worry are identified by the therapy sessions, tapping can help to address it. EFT therapy promotes positive emotions in the body and considerably reduces the accumulation of negative thoughts and emotions by resolving underlying core issues that caused the worry in the first place.
